Scrutineers for Assent Voting

  • Qualified electors within portions of Electoral Area “A” (Bamfield) can apply to act as scrutineers for the following assent voting opportunities:

    • East Bamfield Sewer Collection System Service
    • West Bamfield Sewer Collection System Service

    Volunteer scrutineer positions area available for the following proceedings:

    Advance Voting Opportunities:

    • Wednesday, November 6, East Bamfield Firehall
    • Wednesday, November 13, Flora’s Restaurant

    Voting Day:

    • Saturday, November 16, East Bamfield Firehall

    Scrutineers can also attend the determination of official results and, if necessary, a judicial recount.

    A maximum of two scrutineers, one in favour of, and one opposed to, the questions will be appointment for each proceeding.

    What are Scrutineers?

    Scrutineers are volunteer positions that observe the assent voting procedures and scrutinize the ballot-counting process at the end of voting day. Any person entitled to vote as an elector in the assent voting jurisdiction is entitled to apply to act as scrutineers during the assent voting.

    How to apply to be a Scrutineer?

    Applications to act as a scrutineer will be received by the Chief Election Officer, Deputy Chief Election Officer or designate at the office of the:

      Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District
      3008 Fifth Avenue
      Port Alberni, BC V9Y 2E3

    during the period:

      8 a.m., Wednesday, October 16, 2024 TO 4:30 p.m., Friday, October 25, 2024

    Applications will only be received during regular office days and hours during this period.

    Interested persons can obtain information on the requirements and procedures for making an application on the Regional District website at www.acrd.bc.ca or by contacting the Chief Election Officer or Deputy Chief Election Officer at 250-720-2700 or email elections@acrd.bc.ca.
