FireSmart Home Assessment & Rebate Program

FireSmart home assessments are a great way to identify hazards specific to your home and to gain helpful advice and recommendations on ways to reduce your risk from a professional FireSmart assessor. Homeowners with completed FireSmart assessments may also be eligible for a $500 rebate.

Registration for your 2022 FireSmart Home Assessment is now open. Residents can register for a home assessment by contacting the ACRD Protective Services department at 250-720-2700 or emailing FireSmart@acrd.bc.ca . Register today and learn how to FireSmart your home and property! Assessments will begin in late April.

Residential Curbside Yard Waste Removal Program

This program supports residents to help them remove excess debris from their property. Residents who are unable to dispose their yard waste due to mobility challenges or lack of transportation, will be able to register to have their debris removed free of charge. Removing excess yard waste from your property is an great way to FireSmart your property and improve your wildfire resiliency!

    What is accepted?

  • Small trees, branches (max 4 inches in diameter)
  • Small trees, branches (max 4 inches in diameter)
  • Two piles per property
  • Max pile size (8ft x 8ft x 5ft high)
  • Piles neatly stacked at curbside with butt ends facing the same direction
  • x Construction debris, garbage or organics
  • x Piles of gravel, dirt or roots covered with dirt
  • x Invasive species (including blackberry vines), grass clippings, leaves or soft material

The Residential Curbside Yard Waste Removal Program is scheduled to begin in late April, however registration is open and residents are encouraged to sign up now! Register by phone at 250-720-2700 or emailing FireSmart@acrd.bc.ca
