Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District (ACRD) Emergency Program

The general mandate of the ACRD Emergency Program is to provide for the mobilization, deployment and coordination of all resources necessary for the preservation of life and property, continuity of government and the restoration of normal functions following a large-scale disaster or emergency such as an earthquake, tsunami, flood, fire or similar event.

The objectives of the ACRD Emergency Program are to:

  • provide for the safety and health of all responders;
  • save lives;
  • reduce suffering;
  • protect public health;
  • protect government infrastructure;
  • protect property;
  • protect the environment; and
  • reduce economic and social losses.

The Alberni Valley Emergency Planning Committee consists of a number of agencies working in cooperation towards mitigation planning, preparation for, response to and recovery from a major disaster or emergency that extends beyond normally used response resources of the area. Partner agencies include:
