Permitting for Catalyst Paper Corporation
| AIR PERMIT Catalyst is authorized by the Ministry of Environment, subject to conditions, to discharge air contaminants. The current air permit for Catalyst predates the company. It was issued on January 6, 1977, and was amended on September 23, 1999. It still bears the name, Pacifica Papers Inc. Air Permit # 1863, authorizes discharges from power boilers, cyclones, paper dryers, hot oil heater, and miscellaneous sources for particulate matter, Zinc, Iron, Nitrogen Oxides, Sulphur Dioxide, Carbon Monoxide, and opacity. Air Permit # 1863 LANDFILL PERMIT Catalyst is authorized by the Ministry of Environment, subject to conditions, to discharge refuse to the land near Port Alberni. Landfill permit, #1751, predates the company. It was issued on May 29, 1973 to MacMillan Bloedel Ltd. and was amended on July 9, 1996. It still bears the name, MacMillan Bloedel Ltd. It's authorizations cover fly ash, wood waste, primary and secondary effluent treatment sludges, asbestos, log pond dredgate, and general pulp and paper mill and sawmill refuse, excluding putrescibles and special wastes.
